I am not an expert when it comes to sculpture so i could like to see some ways of how to store materials and what kinds of poster/visuals to post. I also teach 6-8 and just kept saying "ditto" to all your comments. That is a tough age for budding artists because they don't always have the skills to "compete" with peers; yet they feel judged and they always compare their work to others. Great post! I would not think that 3rd and under would be quite ready, personally. She is often home alone with Mom and Dad working different hours, and older sister involved at school. As a former music teacher, I understand the importance of art in the life of a child. This very special and bright child (of course I am her Grandma) lives half way across the country from me, so I can not be with her after school to help her with music or art activities. In fact, I believe there is a great need for after schoolers to find positive and appropriate activities when home alone. Television is not the answer. This Grandma would be happy to help you develop such a plan. i have a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Akron, in Akron Ohio. As an academic advisor for many years, many of my prospective educators were worried about their children who were home alone when they were at school. They could not find enough positive learning experiences for their kids to enjoy while having free time at home. Thank you for any help you can give me.
